Secret Teachings of Plants

With information from his book "Secret Teachings of Plants," Stephen will share his knowledge of the communications that come from plants. On Saturday, Stephen will focus on the heart as an organ of perception, the nature of meaning, the five steps of direct perception, depth diagnosis of disease, and much more. On Sunday, Stephen will teach about the intelligences of wild plants. He will use stories, poetry and his deep research to share some of his sacred journey with participants. You will come away with tools for change that will last a lifetime.

Enjoy demonstrations and samples of Marinated Zucchini Rolls with Fresh Cheese; Pissaladiere (French pizza!); Grilled Butterflied Leg of Lamb with Herbes de Provence; Provencal Stuffed Tomatoes; and as if that isn't enough - Lavender Honey Ice Cream with Roasted Fruit Compote.

In this beginner tofu cooking class we will demystify tofu by providing basic handling and cooking information that will help you succeed with soy. We'll prepare Simple Pan Fried Tofu, Tofu Sandwich Spread, Marinated Tofu & Rice Salad, Tofu Peasant Pie, and Barbecued Tofu. Each class participant will receive a complimentary pound of locally made Central Soyfoods tofu to take home.

We'll start class by watching a 40-minute film "Organic Agriculture & Food" produced by California Certified Organic Farmers. The rest of class we'll spend discussing practical and affordable strategies for making wise organic choices in purchasing and cooking.

This class is in response to the frequent questions I get about how to cook kale, collard greens, and swiss chard. From simple steaming to sauteing you'll go home with the information that you need to choose, store, prepare and enjoy these vital foods.

Medicines in Your Spice Rack

You already use them for flavor. Now you can learn how to use them for common first aid as well as minor medical needs. Cinnamon, sage, garlic, cayenne, curry powder and more can be used for a multitude of "owies." You have these delicious flavors in your kitchen anyway, so why not get double duty from them? Beginners level, easy to learn. If you can boil water, you can make kitchen medicine.

Vegetarian Delights - All About Paneer

Learn how to make fresh paneer with Debjani as she creates a whole menu with it. She'll take you from appetizer (chanar-kabab), to dinner (including chanar-luchi - puffed breads stuffed with chhana; shaag-paneer - chhana cubes in mouthwatering spinach gravy; chhanar-dalna - a traditional Bengali preparation made with chhana, potato, and green peas), to a late night dessert (baked-sondesh) with this Bengali classic. It's a paneer primer you won't want to miss. Savor these dishes with fresh Moshla-Cha (Spiced Chai).
